In death, insects retain most of their beauty when properly preserved. However, most is not all. Pigments break down and color fades, moisture evaporates and bodies shrivel. True hoppers (Hemiptera, suborder Auchenorrhyncha) are no exception to these phenomena. This series acts as the drawers of my personal collection come to life. Do not make identifications based on these photographs alone as many of the species listed here cannot be diagnosed without a specimen.
